King's Lynn grabbed three valuable Elite League points by breezing to victory against a struggling Wolverhampton side at the Norfolk Arena tonight.

The Stars secured six maximum 5-1 victories on their way to an important win that could have been even larger had the visitors not claimed an 8-1 tactical victory in the middle of the meeting.

After a gap of almost two months without a home fixture - following three Norfolk Arena postponements in a row due to wet weather - many Stars' fans feared their side would be rusty on their own shale.

But those worries were quickly blasted away in heat one when in-form Niels-Kristian Iversen came flying out of the tapes to secure a 4-2 win for Lynn. It could have been even better had Joe Screen, on his home debut, not been pipped at the death by Freddie Lindgren for second.

The next two races were shared but Rob Lyon's charges kept their noses in front when Kevin Wolbert edged out Lukasz Sowka in a thrilling battle to gain a point in the fourth.

And it quickly got better for the Stars as flying Polish talent Maciej Janowski secured his second win of the night to help clinch the first maximum of the meeting, in Lynn's favour, in heat five.

Iversen carried on his sensational form in the next race to open up a 10-point gap for Lynn as Screen followed him home for consecutive maximum heat wins for their side.

Captain Mads Korneliussen ensured Wolves' miserable spell continued in the seventh race when he held off Lindgren and Ty Proctor to pick up a valuable race win.

Wolves' Lukasz Sowka grabbed a rare race win for the visitors - who struggled without injured heat leader Tai Woffinden all night and were forced to use rider/replacement - in heat eight. However, another heat advantage for Lynn, courtesy of a 4-2, saw Lyon's side take a deserved 12-point gap into the interval.

Iversen crossed the line streets ahead of the competition again after the re-start, with Screen coming second again to extend Lynn's lead.

The visitors looked in danger of taking a hiding but tactical ride Lindgren claimed a six-point haul as Wolves shaved Lynn's lead to nine points thanks to an 8-1.

But Lynn, led outstandingly by Janowski and Iversen - who only failed to win one of his five races - bagged heat advantages in their final four heats to run out comfortable winners with Janowski's take up the inside of Lindgren on the final bend in heat 15 adding the icing on the cake for another maximum in a fine Stars' win.
