Dereham Town contributed to their own downfall with two own goals and a red card as they lost 3-0 to Wroxham in the FA Vase second qualifying round. Fakenham Town, Gorleston and Thetford Town will also be flying the Norfolk flag in the first round proper, having respectively won 2-0 at Walsham-le-Willows, 2-1 at Eynesbury Rovers and 2-1 against Debenham LC. Diss Town will be aiming to join them tomorrow, when, after drawing 4-4, they meet Bourne Town (7.45pm) in a Brewers Green Lane replay.

Downham Town, though, lost 4-1 to Blackstones, and Yarmouth Town were beaten 2-0 at Leiston. Other teams from the Ridgeons League which made progress included Kirkley, who beat St Ives Town 2-1.

Dereham striker Danny Wright's 49th-minute dismissal, for a dangerous challenge, was the prelude to a three-goal Wroxham salvo - a Coren Hardy close-range strike sandwiched between two own goals - at Aldiss Park.

The Yachtsmen now play Deeping Rangers at Trafford Park on October 7.

“We're looking to do well in this competition, so it was a very pleasing result,” said Wroxham's Justin Fox.

“We had a lot more possession than they did, we were very comfortable and never looked like conceding a goal.

“I thought we had the game in the bag for the whole 90 minutes.”

Goals from James McManus and Paul Wheeler earned Fakenham a Clipbush Park clash with Gorleston, for whom Gary Ingram and Richard Ottley were on target. Ross Bellingham and Matt Catchpole netted for Thetford, who now entertain Lincoln Moorlands, while Leon Harewood (penalty) and Judd Chenery scored for Kirkley at Walmer Road, where they play Godmanchester at the next stage.

Bourne earned a replay with an equaliser in the last minute of extra time, which Diss played with 10 men after Luke Goreham was sent off for two yellow card fouls. Tony Fields (2) and Ricci Butler scored for the Tangerines in normal time, with Danny Partridge putting them 4-3 up in the 102nd minute.

Yarmouth were beaten by two Glen Driver goals at Leiston, who now entertain Woodbridge.

Reigning champions Lowestoft Town, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with Histon Reserves to move up two places to 15th in the Ridgeons League Premier Division, on goal difference from Wisbech, Dereham and King's Lynn Reserves.

Wisbech lost 3-2 (Darren Jimson, own goal) at Mildenhall, while Lynn beat Newmarket 2-1 (Luke Fell and Liam Forshaw penalty). Norwich United stay bottom, still without a win, after a 1-0 defeat at Felixstowe.

Swaffham Town went seven points clear in Division One with a 3-1 (Kevin Leggett, Gavin Norman and Scott Voutt) defeat of Cornard.
