The Norfolk Alliance season could hardly have got off to a more exciting start, with the opening Premier Division fixture ending in a tie.

Fakenham and Horsford A stole a march on their rivals by getting their campaigns under way a week early and produced a match to remember at Manor Park.

Newly-promoted Horsford made 215-9 in their 50 overs and it was a score that was matched by the visitors after being dismissed in the 44th over. Chris Spenceley scored 80 for the hosts while Tom Yarham (74) and Will Dunger (78) starred for Fakenham.

The other match played at the weekend was a Division One fixture between Diss and Norwich A and that one was over early, with Diss claiming an emphatic six wicket success. Robert Tooke, Mark Williamson and Barnaby Chenery all took three wickets as Norwich were bowled out for 111 and David Tooke guided the visitors home with an unbeaten 47. Chris Borrett top-scored for Norwich with 31.
