Anthony Ogogo hopes his victory over Dan Blackwell can kickstart a title charge in 2014 as the Lowestoft middleweight continued his seamless transition from amateur to professional.

Ogogo had far too much guile and speed for journeyman, Blackwell, who did well to get through the six rounds without the referee intervening, as the Olympic bronze medallist registered his fourth win since turning professional at the start of the year.

Ogogo believes the victory can set up a big 12 months for the 25-year-old, who hopes to have secured his first title by this time next year.

'I learned a hell of a lot from that,' said Ogogo, who finally feels over the injury problems that forced him out of a fight on Floyd Mayweather's undercard in September. 'Thank you to Dan Blackwell for taking the fight – he's so tough – he's only been stopped once in 37 fights and that shouldn't have been a stoppage.

'Thanks to my brilliant team I can genuinely say that I'm 100pc fit and 2014 is going to be a really busy year. Hopefully I can build on that performance and by the end of the year it would be nice to have a title around my waist.'

Saturday's victory was never in doubt with Blackwell outclassed in every department but the Trowbridge fighter did at least last the full six rounds, giving Ogogo some much needed ring-time after a long lay-off.

'I wouldn't have learned anything by going in there and blowing somebody around,' said Ogogo, who trained at the Kickstop Gym in Norwich in preparation for Saturday's bout. 'I've only been training for seven weeks for this and that's on the back of a long lay-off.'

Ogogo revealed discussions are underway with Golden Boy Promotions for him to fight in the USA next year but is also hoping to fight in the UK at least five times to start building up a fanbase on these shores.

'We've spoken to Richard Schaefer (Golden Boy chief executive) at length – hopefully I will be fighting on both of his (Mayweather) undercards next year, potentially Canelo's (Saul Alvarez) as well and loads more here on Sky Sports,' he said. 'I can't wait to box in front of these fans again at the ExCeL where the Olympics were. They did me proud and hopefully they will keep on coming back, supporting and joining the O Army.'
