Oasis won their third match of the season in Division One of the Norfolk SRA Squash League but their second win in successive matches has come too late to save them from relegation.

They should however avoid bottom place in the division after beating East Anglia IV 17-6. Mark Thomas and Mike Lupton both won their matches in straight games, Paul Atterton beat Chris Butler 3-1 and Ali Ponder had a narrow 9-10 9-3 10-9 6-9 9-6 victory over veteran Nigel Reeve. Nathan Taylor, who moved up from East Anglia's fifth team, was his team's one winner.

It was a bad week also for East Anglia III who could only raise four players for their visit to Diss and lost 19-4. Hadleigh Farrer did come from 2-1 down to beat Jack Bell 3-2 but a 3-1 win for Paul Newis, together with 3-0 wins for Dan Calver and Neil Cross, were enough to give the home side the bonus points.

Broadland were also well beaten, going down 20-3 at home to Potters, for whom Andy Wright and Dave Hall both won in straight games and Eric Plane, Rob Hambrook and Jamie Goodrich all won 3-1. Barnham Broom had a 20-0 walk-over against King's Lynn.

The top two teams in Division Two, North Norfolk and Barnham Broom II, both won and have clinched promotion to the top flight, although the title has not yet been decided. North Norfolk beat Broadland II 20-3 and are 10 points clear of their challengers, who beat Cromer 19-7.

Martin Guppy and Tim Perry both won 3-0 for North Norfolk while Martin Pearse, Kevin Blake and Devendra Mahatme all won 3-1.

For Barnham Jo Bolt and Adie Martin both won 3-1, Adam Goodson won in straight games and Luke Plumridge recovered from the loss of the first two games to beat Cromer captain Henri Paul 3-2. For Cromer Richard Keeble maintained his season's 100 per cent record as he came from 2-0 down to beat Ben Rawsthorne 7-9 8-10 9-6 9-3 9-3. North Walsham, who had an easy 20-1 win against bottom-of-the-table Potters II, will have to settle for third place. Rob Whiting, James Gair, Roger Hannant and Matt Sumner all won in straight games while Shaun Wright beat Cliff High 3-1.

Bannatyne's II are going to have to pull something out of the fire to avoid filling the second relegation spot after losing 14-6 at home to Barnham Broom III. Shaun Nicholas and Martin Browne did win their matches 3-0 but Broom replied with straight game victories from Wesley Hicks, Steve Slowick and Stuart Sutton. A string of late results from Division Three has shown that the two promoted teams, UEA and Beccles are separated by just one point with one match left to play. The students beat Diss II 18-4 with Luke Grindle, Sam Hazlegrove and Dom Williams all winning in straight games and Ben May winning 3-1. Richard Cutts who beat Dom Markham 3-1 was the one Diss winner.

Both teams have still to visit bottom of the table Oasis II so it will be a tight run thing as to who will finish on top.
