After some impressive sportcar races last year, Alex Brundle will be contesting the full World Endurance Championship, for two seater sportscars, with the OAK Racing team this year.

'I am delighted to be joining OAK Racing's 2013 World Endurance Championship line-up,' said the 22-year-old King's Lynn racer who did two races, at the end of last year, with the French squad.

'I would like to thank the Nicolet family and Team Principal Sébastien Philippe for offering me the opportunity, as well as my long-term sponsors GAC Global Logistics and Richard Mille for their continued support.

'Although the competition will be fierce I have confidence that we have the strength and depth required in driving, engineering and mechanical support to be serious contenders this season.'

The West Norfolk racer enjoyed some exciting racing in the long distance events he took part in last year none more so than competing at the Le Mans 24 Hours, co-driving with father Martin.

'I was honoured to receive the Woolf Bernato Trophy at the BRDC awards, alongside my Father, for finishing as the highest placed British driver in a British car at the 2012 24 hours of Le Mans,' recalled the younger Brundle.

'Competing in the 24 hour classic was one of the highlights of my year and thanks so much to the BRDC (owners of the Silverstone Circuit) for recognising our efforts.'

Brundle will be teamed up with Olivier Pla and amateur driver David Heinemeier Hansson for the eight-race World Endurance Championship.

'This is a great place to be at a time when single-seater drivers are moving over to sportscars almost in their droves. I will be racing in the World Championship with a great team and excellent team-mates,' Brundle said.

'David led races in his own right in the American Le Mans Series last year and has amazing pace and consistency for a silver-rated driver, while Olivier is one of the benchmarks in LMP2 in the WEC.'

The trio will be racing the No 24 Nissan-powered Morgan LMP2 in the regular pink and black livery of the French team and will continue their pre-season testing programme at Paul Ricard on March 29/30 ahead of the FIA World Endurance Championship's opening round at Silverstone on April 13/14.

Brundle, who merged a GP3 race programme with his sportscar drives last year, indicated that he wasn't closing the door on his single-seater options.

'I don't have a single-seater drive for 2013, though you never know what is around the corner, but my focus for this season is on trying to win our class in the World Championship and to build a career in sportscars.'
