Norwich United have completed a transfer masterstroke for the final month of the season by securing the loan signing of prolific Planters’ legend Matt Blake.

Blake, who left Norwich for Leiston two seasons ago, returns on a month’s loan to the club where he scored 112 goals in 148 games during a record-breaking spell.

Blake – who went straight into the squad for Thursday night’s visit of Hertord at Plantation Park (7.45pm) – became available after the arrival of former Lowestoft striker Jake Reed at Victory Road.

Planters’ manager Steve Eastaugh said: “When the chairman told me he might be available I thought it was a practical joke.

“We are getting a player we know really well, is prolific at scoring goals in the league above and is match fit as he’s been playing all season.

“His presence alone will be a huge boost to our group, going into a season-defining month for the football club.”
