Norwich triathlete Joe Skipper ‘ecstatic’ with performance in Ironman event in USA

Norwich athlete Joe Skipper has achieved one of the best results of his career by finishing second in the Ironman American Championship Texas.

The 26-year-old completed a course made up of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle and a 26.2-mile run on Saturday. His overall time of 08:16.26hours was just over six seconds behind the winner. His cycle ride of 04:10.07 was a course record.

Skipper, originally from Lowestoft, took to his @joe_skipper88 Twitter account to say: 'Thanks for all support, means a lot so pleased to get a result and ecstatic I don't have to go to the job centre Wednesday morning now!'
