Foxwood have ended Wensum A's nine-year stranglehold on the Todd Cup.

This season's final was a rematch of last year's encounter between the sides.

Neil Charles, Tony Zeqiri and Sean Molloy represented Wensum this year, with Andy Hawes, Jamie McIntosh and Chris Cockburn playing for Foxwood.

The match started predictably tightly, with Hawes beating Molloy for Foxwood before Charles dispatched McIntosh for Wensum.

Foxwood then elected to put Cockburn on against Molloy. This proved to be the match of the night, both players finding themselves in front before the other pegged it back level. Cockburn eventually sealed the match 11-9 in the final set to put Foxwood 2-1 up.

Wensum then selected Zeqiri to play Hawes. Despite a slow start against Zeqiri's tricky serves, Hawes was able to find his blocking range and counter-hit well to take the match 3-0. Wensum responded well, Charles's big-hitting seeing him through a tough battle with Cockburn, before Zeqiri found his forehand loop to beat McIntosh in straight sets.

Hawes then faced Charles. The match was tight before Charles found another level, hitting some lovely shots to take the game 3-1, putting Wensum just one match away from the cup.

Wensum selected to play Zeqiri against Cockburn, who blocked and counter-hit Zeqiri's big forehand loops, using the occasional lob well to win 3-0, levelling the match at 4-4 and setting up a decider between McIntosh and Molloy.

After a nervy start from both players, McIntosh took the first leg and edged the second 13-11 with a trademark backhand winner. Leading 10-9 in the third set, McIntosh kept the ball on the table with some low chops, causing the error from Molloy and winning on his first match point. Foxwood took home the Todd Cup for the first time since the 2006-2007 season, ending Wensum A's almost decade-long dominance of the trophy.

A great night of table tennis, with spectators in awe at the standard of play from all players. Thanks to Dennis Calver for umpiring the match, and to SFC for the use of their venue.
