The Norwich man felt he was hard done by: 'Everybody keeps saying I didn't lose – but I didn't win. Fighting for another title here in my home city in front of so many loyal supporters and I didn't come up with the goods. I am gutted.

'A couple of points in there I got tagged but I dealt with it. I got behind my boxing, got behind my jab, I was moving left to right, not letting him set himself. He was coming forward but he wasn't throwing anything because I wasn't giving him the opportunity.

'I couldn't miss him with my jab - the first four rounds I convincingly won. A couple of rounds he caught me with shots that hurt, but if you land three or four shots in one round, whether they hurt or not, if you are eating a dozen jabs you lose that round.'
