Team spirit has played a key part in Norwich City's impressive run to the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals.
Alan Fleming had capped City's comeback from 2-0 down against Newcastle with a fine individual effort to put David Wright's under-18s squad 3-2 ahead at Carrow Road on Wednesday night.
The Magpies equalised in injury-time but Anthony Spyrou's second goal of the night sealed victory in extra-time, as the young Canaries came from behind for the third successive game in their Youth Cup adventure.
'In terms of the second years, we all get together at my digs for social time, watch football together, have loads of talks together,' said winger Fleming, who is one of the second-year scholars in the U18 squad.
'So as second years we're really together and also I think the first years have really come together with us, whereas in previous years the first and second years were distant. But they've really integrated with us well and we've got a really strong team spirit.'
Originally from Watford, 18-year-old Fleming joined the Canaries at the start of his U14 season after impressing for Luton Town. He had caught the eye of City's former academy manager Gregg Broughton, who had joined from Luton and was also responsible for bringing Jamal Lewis to Norfolk, and Fleming would love to follow the left-back's successful move into the first team.
'That's the dream,' he added with a smile. 'When you see what he's done, it's amazing really, it's what we all want to do.'
Fleming admits following in the footsteps of City's 2013 Youth Cup winners is now the dream and hopes to see a big crowd for the Carrow Road quarter-final against bury or Birmingham.
'We look to them and really idolise them in terms of what they did in the Youth Cup and how they've gone on with their careers,' he continued.
'We want to really emulate that and obviously we're in the quarter-finals now, so we can do it. The games are always entertaining, so that's something that the fans can look at, so if we keep turning up with these performances I'm sure the fans will come along!'
