Let them have him - that's the verdict of Norwich City supporters after Kyle Lafferty was linked with a move to fierce rivals, Ipswich Town.

The Northern Ireland international is reportedly on Blues boss Mick McCarthy's radar after being let go by the Canaries this summer.

But in a Pink Un poll, which attracted more than 1,500 votes, 67 per cent of supporters said that Lafferty isn't good enough for the Canaries and that Ipswich were welcome to him. Thirty-three per cent of supporters fear the former Palermo man could come back to haunt Daniel Farke's side next season.

McCarthy is keen to strengthen his side this summer and hopes Lafferty could form a potent strike partnership alongside new signing Joe Garner, who arrived from Rangers last week in a £1m deal.

Lafferty has been told by Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill that he needs to secure regular first team football to stay in his thoughts at international level. The 29-year-old endured a disappointing three-year spell at Carrow Road scoring just four goals after signing from Palermo for a reported fee of £3m.

Lafferty has also been linked with a move to Azerbaijan champions FC Qarabag whilst Hearts and Hibs are also reportedly interested.

However, Ipswich appear to be the frontrunners and if he makes the move he would become part of a select group of players to have represented both Norwich and the Blues. Since 1980 only 12 players have represented both clubs, while just four have moved directly from one to the other.

The last time it happened was in 2001, and even then there was no contact between the two East Anglian rivals, with Andy Marshall out of contract when he decided to cross the great divide and try his luck south of the border. You have to go back a lot further for the three other direct moves. In 1980 Clive Woods, a key man for Ipswich during their glory years under Bobby Robson, returned to his home city club for what turned out to be his swansong in professional football while six years later John Deehan left for Portman Road, with Trevor Putney moving in the opposite direction. In recent years player connections have been few and far between, with striker Alan Lee the last man to represent both clubs.
