Norwich City centre-back Zak Whitbread is said to be in line for a new deal at Carrow Road.
Sky Sports suggested yesterday the 27-year-old former Liverpool defender had begun talks with City, as he enters the final year of his contract with the Canaries.
The American defender joined at the start of 2010 from then League One rivals Millwall for an undisclosed fee and although the defender endured a tough start to his City career through injury, Whitbread was a regular come the end of last season as Norwich secured promotion to the Premier League.
Lambert is said to be 'keen to keep hold' of the defender and 'is ready to offer him a new deal to secure his long-term future', according to the report.
