Mario Vrancic is focused on making an impact for Norwich City and easing the midfield injury problems for head coach Daniel Farke.

The 28-year-old has made 31 appearances and scored two goals in all competitions since joining from German side Darmstadt last summer but has not yet found the consistency he is looking for.

However, with Alex Tettey, Tom Trybull and Moritz Leitner all out injured until after the upcoming international break the Bosnia & Herzegovina international has a chance to stake his claim against Reading at Carrow Road today.

'Unfortunately we have got a lot of injured players at the moment, particularly in my position, so it could be a chance for me to make an impact and a contribution to the next games hopefully – with a good game and a win,' he said.

'This is our job, we are always competitors in each and every position, if you've got a chance you have to take it. I just want to concentrate on the present, concentrate on my performance.

'I know I need to deliver, every one of us needs to deliver and entertain our supporters against Reading, hopefully with a victory.'

Just six teams have picked up fewer points than the 23 managed in 18 games by City in the Championship so far this season, drawing 0-0 against Bolton and Nottingham Forest in their last two home games.

Vrancic wants to help give the Canaries faithful more to shout about at Carrow Road.

'I saw it bouncing after the equaliser of Timm Klose against Ipswich, it was unbelievable!' he joked. 'I don't know why we are struggling with the home performances and the results.

'We try to change it each and every time because it is our living room, we need to deliver, we can't give the opponent any chance to take points from Carrow Road. We just need to focus again and play maybe more simple and entertain our supporters.'

Of Reading, he added: 'They like a lot of possession, they have a lot of good players, last season they almost got promoted so they've got a good team.

'We will try to keep possession as much as possible, we know there will be some periods without the ball but for that we are focussed to defend – but hopefully with some goals and good performances we will get a good result.'
