Alex Neil has hit out at the boo-boys he believes are continuing to undermine Josh and Jacob Murphy's progress.

Jacob set up Norwich City's opening two goals during Saturday's 3-2 home win against Cardiff City before being replaced by his twin Josh – who netted a stunning third. It continued the Murphys' promising start to their breakthrough season at first-team level but it still didn't stop some supporters from turning up the heat on the talented duo – much to the annoyance of their manager.

Neil said: 'I think the disappointing thing for me was I could hear some of the fans getting on their backs a little bit.

'You've got two young lads, they're going to become special players, and you need to allow them to make errors at times. I can assure you I'm as frustrated as anybody else but it's going to happen and they're going to get better and better.

'They're young lads, they're going to, at times, lose the ball or make wrong decisions, but if they're going to develop we need to persevere with them. The two of them are special.'
