Timm Klose was annoyed at Robbie Brady during the international break. For the same reason, come Saturday night the big defender could not have been more pleased with his team-mate.

It all stemmed from the Republic of Ireland's friendly victory over Switzerland and the game's only goal: Brady's early free-kick catching out the Swiss centre-back to settle matters. Fortunately at Carrow Road and in the biggest game of City's season to date, the young Irish player of the year made amends – at least in Klose's eyes.

'During the national team break he did it against me, so I was a little bit angry – but right now I'm happy he did it again,' said Klose, notching his first goal for the club and setting in motion a series of events one Saturday afternoon that will be told for many years to come.

'He has some great deliveries and if we go like this again the next two games, then we can stay positive in our minds.

'I didn't know how to celebrate my goal. Maybe that's what I'm disappointed about?

'But it felt amazing to score in the Premier League, in front of the home crowd. It was a great feeling.

'It feels fantastic if you score as a defender. It's not that often it happens, but the guys just tried to gee me up every week and try to help me as much as they can, and every week that passes I feel more and more comfortable on the pitch. It is a different league, different to German football. But I feel more and more comfortable on the pitch.

'So it was just a great, great feeling to score.'

Yet incredibly, it was one of Klose's fellow defenders who stole the show in added time to book a priceless three points that could yet go so far towards securing the Canaries' Premier League survival.

'He was burning at the end – he was just on fire, it was just fantastic,' beamed Klose over Martin Olsson's match-winning strike.

'It's always good when defenders score because it's not that often. But the performance of the whole team was amazing.

'We tried to do everything to just stay in this game and not lose it, and that was the key.

'We could've scored two goals or even maybe three in the first half. But just to go in at half-time 1-0 is good for your head and feels fantastic.

'Afterwards we came out and conceded an ugly goal, and sometimes it's just like that. You have to come back and be mentally strong, and that's what we did.

'I can't remember the last time I experienced a game like that. Maybe against Liverpool – but that went the wrong way.

'It's fantastic to come back from 2-2 when everything was against us. John Ruddy did a big save at the end and kept us alive and we managed to score in the final minute.

'That header from (Papiss) Cisse was going to hit the post, but it was still a great save. Maybe it could have hit the post and gone back to Cisse and then he scores? You never know. So the save was important.

'The important thing is we're alive as a team. We keep ourselves together, keep the power in the team.

'We're trying to stay up and doing everything we can do during the week. Just trying to be good as a team and that's what we're showing now on the pitch.'
