Robbie Brady's close range 50th minute strike clinched Norwich City's first top flight win since beating Southampton on January 2 and moved them out of the bottom three.
The Canaries ended a 10-game winless Premier League run to revive their survival hopes with their first away clean sheet of the season.
Norwich City manager Alex Neil said: 'The next games we play will dictate how big this win is. What it does is certainly give us a good platform and we spoke about this bunch of five games. This was the first one, so Newcastle at home we can look to build on now.'
