News of long-serving midfielder Alex Tettey signing a new contract has been welcomed by Norwich City supporters this evening.

As reported earlier this week, the former Norway international has decided to remain in Norfolk, signing a two-year contract to remain as one of the senior players in Daniel Farke's squad.

The 32-year-old had suggested earlier in the year that he may have to move on due to the club's financial restrictions, as he approached what could be final big contract of his career.

However, he has committed through until the end of the 2019/20 season, potentially extending his time as Norwich players to eight seasons.

Currently the former Rennes and Rosenborg midfielder has 177 appearances to his name, placing him 83rd in the club's all-time appearances list.

Two further seasons of regular action – which would take him beyond his 34th birthday – could potentially see the combative midfielder close on the top 50, with Martin Peters and Malky Mackay currently joint 50th on 232 games.
