Teemu Pukki is determined to help Norwich City prove their Premier League doubters wrong – and his remarkable hat-trick against Newcastle was just the start for the in-form striker.
The Canaries star was the talk of the football world this weekend after a tremendous treble fired Daniel Farke's team to a 3-1 win, sealing a first win of the top-flight season in front of the thrilled Carrow Road faithful.
It put the Finland international level with Manchester City and England superstar Raheem Sterling on four goals as the Premier League's joint top scorer and Pukki is confident his team-mates will keep creating the chances for him.
"I think I just need to find the positions that I have been doing and I'm confident that I can keep doing well in the Premier League and we as a team believe we can do it," the Finn said, clutching the match ball. "I'm 100 percent sure those guys will keep finding me in the box and hopefully I can keep scoring goals."
He won't be setting a goal target though - just as he didn't during his incredible first season with Norwich, when he plundered 30.
"I didn't do it last year," Pukki added. "I didn't put any targets on how many goals I wanted to score and I won't do it this season either.
"I'll just keep doing the job and hopefully I can score a lot of goals."
The victory saw City bounce back immediately from their 4-1 defeat at Liverpool during the opening weekend of the season but Pukki is well aware the campaign is still in its early stages.
He continued: "It's still the beginning of the season but you could see last week that we played well in one of the hardest places after a tough start there.
"We just want to prove all the people wrong who are saying you can't do that. There's still a lot to do, we haven't done that yet."
The three-goal haul moved Pukki up to 50th in the Canaries' all-time scoring charts, level with Craig Bellamy and Chris Martin on 34 goals already.
When told that statistic, the prolific forward laughed and said with a big smile: "I'm really proud. It's been a great time since the first day I came here, the best time of my career so far, so I'm happy with that."
