Norwich City have been warned it will take a special performance to storm Swansea's home fortress in tomorrow's live televised Championship promotion encounter.

Swans' boss Brendan Rodgers is banking on the Welsh side's impressive form at the Liberty Stadium to help re-ignite fading hopes of pipping the Canaries to the second automatic promotion berth.

Arch-rivals Cardiff are the only side in the current top ten to have beaten Swansea on home soil this season. Rodgers' outfit can also boast the second best home record in the division after champions-elect QPR – and the hosts are desperate to bounce back following last weekend's surprise defeat at struggling Preston.

The Canaries head west with a four-point cushion over both Welsh rivals, which Rodgers concedes leaves little margin for error ahead of the late afternoon kick off.

'Some of our performances this season, especially at home, have been magnificent,' he said. 'Look at Nottingham Forest in our last game at the Liberty – we were outstanding. When the players reflect on Preston there is disappointment of course but one of the great strengths of this group is the way they go again after a bad result.

'You can be sure they will never throw the towel in — the players have proved that over the course of the season. It's in the make-up of this group and that ability to bounce back has been a big part of our success.

'I felt for the supporters after Preston. We had a wonderful turn-out up there and we didn't give them the result they wanted. But they can rest assured that our motivation will be renewed for Norwich. We will get the smile back on the players' faces and then we will look to win the game.'

Rodgers is well aware nullifying City's attacking threat could hold the key to the contest, with Lambert's side fresh from dismantling Scunthorpe last weekend.

'We have to get back to our mentality of getting the nuts and bolts right and keeping clean sheets,' he said. 'It's okay being fluent offensively, but we must be defensively strong as well. I'm talking about everybody, not just the back four and the keeper. We were not in our shape as a team at Preston and we need to change that against Norwich. We have to get what I call our ruthless simplicity back.'

Rodgers concedes both clubs could now be battling for one final automatic promotion spot, with QPR nine points clear at the top.

'Mathematically it is still open for both the top positions, but you'd have to say that QPR are looking good now,' said Rodgers. 'They have looked good most of the season.'
