Norwich City head coach Daniel Farke has surprisingly reverted to the team which started last week’s 4-1 defeat at QPR for tonight’s game at Sunderland.
The City boss has made four changes, bringing Christoph Zimmermann and James Husband back into defence in place of Timm Klose and Jamal Lewis, who had returned to the team for Saturday’s impressive 3-1 home win over Aston Villa.
Wes Hoolahan also returns in attacking midfield as Alex Tettey starts on the bench, with Nelson Oliveira returning up front despite Dennis Srbeny scoring his first goal for the Canaries at the weekend.
The Canaries bounced back from successive defeats to Fulham and QPR with that 3-1 win over promotion-chasing Villa on Saturday, to move back into the top half of the table.
However, that was just a second win in 11 matches as consistency continues to elude Farke’s team as a mid-table finish looms.
Sunderland make two changes, with the injured Marc Wilson and Paddy McNair replaced by Adam Matthews and Ovie Ejaria.
The Black Cats have won just one of their last 13 matches, a surprise 4-1 win at high-flying Derby, claiming seven from a possible 39 points to leave themselves deep in relegation trouble.
Defeat this evening could potentially leave them 10 points adrift with 12 points left to play for but with their final two games against champions elect Wolves and in-form Fulham, dropping down to League One is already looking likely.
