Norwich City Under-23s completed their Premier League Two campaign with a 0-0 draw against Brighton at Carrow Road tonight.
The young Canaries were already consigned to finishing bottom of Division Two after a poor league campaign, four points adrift after losing 13 of their 21 matches.
However, it is the cup competitions where City's development squad have enjoyed success, reaching the Premier League International Cup semi-finals and the knockout stages of the Checkatrade Trophy.
They hosted Brighton ahead of a Premier League Cup semi-final against Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday (1pm), with Swansea or Portsmouth to be faced in the final.
The Seagulls are safely in mid-table in eighth place and were held to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in October when Sergi Canos – since sold to Brentford – equalised for City.
The visitors were preparing for next Wednesday's Sussex Senior Cup Final against Crawley Town and beat Stoke City 2-0 at home in their last match, a fortnight ago.
