Kyle Walker has strongly rebuffed Chris Hughton's claim he went down too easily to earn Tottenham a penalty in Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat to Norwich.

Norwich stunned Tottenham to move in to the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup thanks to a dramatic final 10 minutes at Carrow Road.

Jan Vertonghen's own goal and a strike from Simeon Jackson put the Canaries ahead with three minutes left, and then Spurs wasted a chance to take the game in to extra-time as Clint Dempsey drove weakly in to Mark Bunn's arms from the penalty spot soon after.

Hughton, a former Spurs player and coach, claimed Walker 'made a meal' of the challenge by Marc Tierney, and the Norwich full-back himself says he did not touch the England right-back.

As a young man who grew up on a council estate in Sheffield, Walker takes umbrage at Hughton's suggestion he went down too readily.

'I'm from up north. I'm not going to go down softly,'' Walker said at an event to publicise the Topps Match Attax Tour.

'I thought I got a clip so I went down. It was a foul. The referee has awarded a penalty, or the linesman did. They were close enough to see it.

'If I felt I was touched then I am going to go down. That's it.''

Andre Villas-Boas' men host Wigan on Saturday before facing Manchester City and Arsenal.

'It's massively important that we bounce back from that game and get back to winning ways,'' Walker said.

'No disrespect to Wigan, but out of the (next) three (games) this is the easiest.'
