Southampton's highly-rated captain Adam Lallana is eyeing a personal milestone against the Canaries in tnoight's Premier League clash at St Mary's.

The 24-year-old moved within one goal of a half-century for his boyhood club with a strike in the impressive 2-0 home league win over Newcastle on Sunday that moved Nigel Adkins' side out of the bottom three ahead of the Canaries' visit.

'It'd be great to get to 50,' he said. 'It's always nice to get on the scoresheet and maybe I could have had a couple more (against Newcastle). We've got back-to-back wins now, and we want a third on Wednesday night. We've got a big chance to pull a bit further away from the drop zone – and we want to take that chance.

'If you get a few wins then you can find yourself four or five places up the league, and that's where we want to go. I feel the lads believe a lot more and our confidence is showing, as we saw in this game.'

Lallana was part of an attacking quartet that swept Newcastle aside at St Mary's to underline the newly-promoted Saints are adapting to top flight life.

'We're starting to find our feet. We're learning off each other and playing well and we're creating chances, which is exactly what we want to achieve,' he told the club's official site.

'We had a tough start and we feel we should have probably been a little higher up the league. We've led in a lot of games this year but just not seen it out. We are adjusting to the standard and it is showing by the results we're getting. We will just keep working hard and learning still. It is the first season for a lot of us in the top flight but we'll come to terms with it.'

Southampton's 12m summer signing Gaston Ramirez is likely to be a major threat to Norwich's unbeaten seven-match run after starring against the Magpies in his best display since arriving from Italian side Bologna.

'We all know what ability Gaston has got, and it's a pleasure to play and train with him,' said Lallana. 'Gaston Ramrez is a class act. He had a bad injury that kept him out for three or four weeks, so maybe he was a little bit rusty when he came back.

'He is a top-class player and the more he finds his feet he will take this league by storm.

'It is a pleasure to play with him and he brings out the best in the other lads, like Rickie Lambert, Jason Puncheon and myself.'
