The Newcastle striker was thought to have been out of the Norwich manager's price range, but this week's news of the takeover ambitions of businessman Peter Cullum has prompted speculation that Roeder may be able to fork out a hefty sum for the 26-year-old, with a transfer fee of £3.5m suggested by the Daily Mirror.
Meanwhile, midfielder Alan Gow's £300,000 transfer from Rangers is expected to move closer to completion today.
