'Shambolic', 'embarrassing', 'diabolical', 'amateur' and 'pathetic'. just a few of the words used by angry supporters to describe Norwich City's 3-0 capitulation at Huddersfield.

Any lingering hopes that Norwich City might yet scrape into the top six come the end of the season, will surely have been snuffed out after yet another abject away performance.

The promotion-chasing Terriers tore into the Canaries with three goals in the space of just seven-and-a-half second-half minutes for a victory which almost certainly ends a wretched season.

Supporters on Twitter were scathing in their criticism of the team, after the latest defeat in a season which started with so much promise, but which has gone from bad to worse.

Conor Southwell said: 'The players have lost the fight, the bottle and the heart. Now it's time for those players to walk away. They owe this club nothing.'

Sam Langan tweeted: 'It's difficult to comprehend how fragile this squad is. Mistakes, hesitation, lack of quality. From comfort to disarray in seven mins.'

'An absolute pantomime, from top to bottom, an amateur pantomime', was Robert Forder's verdict. while Sean Fitzgerald summed it up with a succinct '#NCFC pathetic.'

Hundreds of die-hard Norwich supporters made their way north for the match and Mike Ward said: 'Those players should not be paid for that shambles. Fans who went need repaying.'

Tom Cundy tweeted: 'Absolutely pathetic and embarrassing Norwich', while James Wing vented: 'I have just about had it with this football club! Absolutely disgraceful! Pathetic performance yet again!'

Mark Jones lamented: 'A football club in complete and utter disarray! Embarrassing, shambolic, gutless, diabolical, inept. Take your pick.'

And Jack Reeve wrote: 'Incredible that after every game I want to keep less and less players, can't see me wanting to keep more than 5 by the end of the season.'

The Canaries dire away form and defensive frailties have cost them dearly in the attempt to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

That prompted Klobo to tweet: '1 win in 15 games on the road. Utterly embarrassing.', while Richard Balls observed: 'So that's 43 goals shopped on our travels this season. The cost of failing to bring in new defenders over consecutive summers'.

And. with the club still looking for a head coach, having reached an agreement with Huddersfield for their head of football operations to become Carrow Road's new sporting director, the BBC's Chris Goreham tweeted: 'The only thing I can take from that is whoever coming in to #NCFC will have been left in no doubt as to how much needs sorting out.'
