Jason Shackell will make his long-awaited comeback from injury when Norwich City's second string resume their Premiership Reserve League programme with a game against Coventry this evening.
The young defender has been an unused substitute in the Canaries' three previous first team fixtures - but this will be his first taste of competitive action since October 3, when he injured ankle ligaments while playing for Keith Webb's side.
Shackell was given the all-clear to push on after visiting a specialist last week and, along with Jim Brennan, will provide some welcome experience at the back in what is otherwise a squad made up entirely of teenagers.
“It will be good to see Jason back in action,” said Webb. “He has been out for a long time but hopefully the injury is behind him now. What he needs now is games - and he will play from the start against Coventry. We'll see how he goes and make a decision on how long he plays on the night.”
Tonight's game, which kicks-off at 7pm, is being played at Rugby Town's Butlin Road ground.
City Reserves: Lewis, Cave-Brown, Spillane, Shackell, Brennan, Smart, Rossi Jarvis, Fisk, Eagle, Howlett, Martin. Subs: Muddel, Eames, Daley.
City's Coca-Cola Championship trip to Burnley in March has been brought forward to a Friday night for live coverage on Sky Sports. The game will now take place on March 24 (7.45pm).
