Sebastien Bassong continues to look the part as he settles into life at Carrow Road – and into a blossoming central defensive partnership with Leon Barnett.

The 26-year-old Cameroon international defender is yet to taste defeat for Norwich City since signing a three-year deal from Tottenham after the first weekend of the season – in a deal reportedly worth 4m.

Bassong and 26-year-old Barnett both got their first competitive action of the season in the home draw with Queens Park Rangers and then saw out proceedings to earn a point at White Hart Lane on Saturday. And Bassong hopes the pair will get to build on what has been an encouraging sight at the heart of the City's rearguard.

'Yeah, it's going well and we're working hard every day in training – I'm trying to communicate a lot with him and we're helping each other, so for now it's working well and so I just wish it to continue for a long time,' said Bassong, who feels he is settling into his new surroundings – despite the odd teething trouble.

'I'm just looking for a house, which is hard. I'm in a hotel. Then my car broke down two days ago I was in the middle of nowhere… Welcome to Norwich!' smiled the affable defender.

No doubt the former Newcastle and Metz centre-back is enjoying the start of his Norwich career and while most would have preferred a City game this weekend to maintain their momentum, Bassong is just glad the international break started with a good result.

'If you'd had a poor result it would have felt like a really long one, so I think we're going to enjoy the two weeks off and it will be nice,' he added.

Bassong had one wobble against QPR, conceding the penalty that ultimately cost City two points at Carrow Road.

But Bassong looked assured on his Spurs return, where he spent three years after an 8m move from St James' Park.

'Personally I'm really delighted about my return – I was a bit… not nervous but it was a little bit emotional for me, but I'm really happy about how it went,' he admitted.

'I'm really happy with how we played. I haven't lost yet here and I think we deserved to win because we really created many chances and Brad Friedel had a magnificent game.

'I wasn't really focused on Spurs – just focused on us. But I was expecting us to play a good game, have a good defensive shape and create many chances – and we did. It's unlucky for Spurs but I wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.'
