Norwich City striker Gary Hooper continues to be linked with a late summer transfer window switch from Carrow Road as Premier League rivals QPR and Crystal Palace reportedly size up a move for the frontman.
Hooper has yet to feature for the Canaries this season, but returned to light training in recent days following a calf injury. Canaries' boss Neil Adams made it clear after last week's Championship derby success at Ipswich a fit Hooper will be part of his plans, but that has not stopped the London Evening Standard clamining on Friday morning both QPR and Palace may look to test Norwich's resolve with a £5m bid.
Hooper scored eight goals in 35 appearances during his debut campaign after moving from Celtic. The 26-year-old rejected the chance to link up with Harry Redknapp at Loftus Road 12 months ago in favour of a move to Norfolk but both Redknapp and new Eagles' chief Neil Warnock expect a hectic finale to the window which closes on Monday evening.
Adams has recruited Lewis Grabban, Kyle Lafferty and Cameron Jerome to boost his strikeforce since taking over on a permanent basis but the Norwich boss views Hooper as another important part of his attacking armoury.
'Gary is a big part of what we are trying to do,' said Adams, speaking at Portman Road on Saturday prior to Hooper's return to training at Colney. 'We are not looking to lose Gary. He is injured at the minute, he has a calf problem and when he is fit he comes in to compliment the attacking options we have so he is very much part of the squad.'
