Norwich City have failed with a £1.5m bid for Stoke City striker Jon Walters.
The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday morning City had enquired about the Republic of Ireland international, who is currently in contract negotiations with Stoke - Norwich's weekend Premier League opponents at Carrow Road.
Alex Neil refused to be drawn on any transfer speculation when he spoke to the media on Friday morning at Colney, but Walters is the latest striker linked with the Canaries as Neil looks to bring in a new frontman ahead of the September 1 deadline.
The Daily Telegraph claim the bid was rejected by the Potters despite contract talks yet to bear fruit with the 31-year-old, who is out of contract next summer. Walters reportedly wants a three-year deal but Stoke are only offering two for the former Ipswich forward.
