Norwich City's search for striking reinforcements could lead to a move for Liverpool outcast Rickie Lambert.

The England international is set to leave Anfield, with the Reds poised to complete a deal for Aston Villa's Christian Benteke to join Daniel Sturridge at Liverpool.

The Mirror report Norwich are monitoring the ex-Southampton striker's situation with the 33-year-old but have yet to make a firm bid after an initial enquiry. The Telegraph report on Tuesday, Premier League rivals West Brom are lining up a £3m move for Lambert, who was prolific in his spell with the Saints but has failed to nail down a regular starting spot at the club he supported as a boy on Merseyside.

Alex Neil pulled out of a deal for Celta Vigo targetman Joaquin Larrivey and has also been touted with the likes of Blackburn's Rudy Gestede and Crystal Palace's Glenn Murray this summer.

Lambert is not on the Reds' current pre-season tour Down Under after picking up an ankle injury.
