Norwich City are not looking to swap Canaries' midfielder Anthony Pilkington for Bolton's South Korean midfielder Chung-Yong Lee after fresh speculation on Thursday hinted City could be prepared to offload the Republic of Ireland international.

Norwich took up an option in Pilkington's contract earlier this summer keeping at Carrow Road until 2015, although the midfielder's lack of pre-season action continues to fuel transfer speculation over his long-term future.

Pilkington scored in the 1-1 friendly draw against SC Bastia in Sallanches last month but was introduced from the substitutes' bench in both Carrow Road home outings last week against OGC Nice and Celta Vigo.

Reports Pilkington could be exchanged for the South Korean international, who is also entering the final year of his current deal with the Trotters, first surfaced at the weekend in the Sunday People who suggested transfer talks were imminent between both clubs.

The 26-year-old started just 10 Premier League games last season because of hamstring problems and has struggled to establish himself in the Canaries' starting line up after an encouraging debut season for the club following his reported £2m move from Huddersfield in 2011.

Lee, who was touted with Premier League Hull City only last month, started all three of South Korea's group games during a disappointing World Cup campaign in Brazil this summer and has been at Bolton since joining from FC Seoul for a fee of £2.2m in August 2009. He has played 169 games for the Trotters, scoring 17 goals.

Pilkington has previously been linked with both Swansea City and Aston Villa in previous transfer windows. The Darwen-bred midfielder started his career with Stockport after being part of Blackburn's academy set-up before he was released as a teenager.
