Royston Drenthe was happy to end his injury absence by helping Everton earn a point against Norwich City.

The on-loan Real Madrid winger passed a pre-match fitness test and in his 18-minute cameo made one goal and stung the forearm of John Ruddy with a firecracker that threatened to earn the Toffees all three points.

'It was really frustrating that I was injured for three weeks with my ankle, so to play again and be important for your team, it's a really good feeling,' said Drenthe.

'Running with the ball is my quality and I have to do what is my quality. When the gaffer brought me on he told me to try to do what ever I can and the moment I get the ball: direct, direct, direct.'

Drenthe added: 'We have a big game against Swansea on Wednesday and it is disappointing when you don't get the three points at home. We have to look forward, so that we can win that game.'
