Neil Redfearn is already keen to extend Harry Toffolo's loan at Rotherham United.

The City left-back is due to return to the Canaries later this month following his spell at the Championship strugglers.

However, Millers boss Redfearn does not want to see the back of the 20-year-old just yet.

United's 3-0 defeat at Derby on Saturday saw Toffolo handed a more advanced role down the Millers' left flank on his fourth appearance for the club.

'Harry has done well, he's a very bright young player, he knows how highly he's regarded and I think he's played well,' said Redfearn.

'I think probably it was too much for him, that position and that role on Saturday, and I hold my hands up to that.

'But he is a player that is comfortable on the ball and comfortable going forward with the ball.

'Perhaps it could be a role for him in future. It's something I did at Leeds with Sam Byram and Charlie Taylor. I played them in advanced positions because they were young and athletic, they had a good touch and they could play the ball.

'And Harry falls in that category. But it wasn't just Harry on Saturday. It was the general performance and it was a poor performance.

'But he's upbeat, training has been good and he's somebody that we would like to keep. He's a top young player, so if we can extend Harry's loan that would be great for us.'

Toffolo was on the losing side again last night, playing the full 90 minutes as Rotherham went down to a 1-0 defeat against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Stewart Downing's first-half goal secured a third successive Championship win for the home side.
