Sticking to Daniel Farke's plans has been the key to Norwich City emerging from the international break with four wins on the spin, according to striker Jordan Rhodes.

The Canaries took five points from a possible 18 in league action ahead of the fortnight break and a 1-1 draw at struggling Ipswich didn't exactly have spirits flying high as some of City's squad went on international duty.

However, Farke's team have deservedly beaten Middlesbrough, Reading and QPR since returning to Championship action, before a dramatic 4-3 win at Wycombe to progress to the Carabao Cup fourth round – featuring a hat-trick from Rhodes.

Asked what the squad were doing during the international break, Rhodes quipped: 'Working very hard! All jokes aside, it's really good team spirit and even at the start of the season when we weren't being rewarded with the wins, I think everybody kind of thought we're actually playing quite well, we're moving the ball about and we've been unlucky with bits and bobs.

'It's nice that we've been a little bit fortunate with getting the run of the ball and things going our way but we know that can change in a blink of an eye and we're going to have to be right on our game come Saturday for what will be a very tough Wigan side and onwards from that.

'So we've just got to take it one game at a time, work as hard as we can and that's all you can do when games are coming thick and fast as they are.'

Key to that run has been the goal-scoring form of Teemu Pukki, so Rhodes was pleased to keep City's form on track with a treble when he returned to the starting line-up at Wycombe, taking his tally for the season to five goals.

'I'm just happy to help the team,' the Scotland international striker added. 'It's not about individual accolades and scoring and assists and things. It's a matter of Norwich City, or whichever team I'm playing for, getting the job done on the night and working as hard as I can for the team.

'Yeah, it's nice for strikers when the goals do go in but sometimes they don't and you have to contribute to the team and work as hard as you can – and I think that's all you can do.

'Especially as professionals, nights like this don't always happen so it's nice to enjoy them.'
