Newcastle United have reportedly accepted a £4million bid from Ipswich Town for striker Shola Ameobi. The report, which has not been confirmed by either club, comes after the striker's agent claimed the player would be more than willing to talk about a move to Norwich City.

Canaries boss Glenn Roeder is a big admirer of Ameobi, 26, having worked with the player during his stint as the Magpies manager, and the arrival of the 6ft 2in striker at Carrow Road would certainly go a long way to filling the gap left by the departures of Dion Dublin and Darren Huckerby.
