Norwich City fans celebrating a remarkable title success are singing loud and proud this afternoon, following a 2-1 win at Aston Villa which sealed top spot in the final Championship table for Daniel Farke’s excellent team.
The Canaries went into the game at Villa Park knowing that a draw would be enough to seal the title, regardless of what rivals Sheffield United did at Stoke.
Teemu Pukki fired the visitors into an early lead which was cancelled out by Jonathan Kodjia but Mario Vrancic finished a superb team move with a fine finish from the edge of the penalty area to seal a 2-1 win in the 84th minute.
With the Blades drawing 2-2 at Stoke the celebrations were on the verge of kicking off even before the Vrancic strike, short of a late twist at both stadiums, but Farke’s team made sure to finish five points clear at the summit – and 11 clear of third place Leeds, whose implosion continued with a shock 3-2 loss at rock-bottom Ipswich.
