Thunderbolt, screamer, howitzer, thronker, piledriver – just some of the words I have seen used to describe the goal which hugely lifted the spirits of every Norwich City supporter this weekend.

Eastern Daily Press:

When Alex Tettey unleashed his wonder volley in the 32nd minute of City's 2-0 win against Sunderland on Saturday, his goal-of-the-season contender was greeted with delirious celebrations.

Looks of amazement and joy filled Carrow Road as the Norway international goal gave Chris Hughton's side a fully deserved 2-0 lead.

The Yell Army campaign was relaunched by the EDP and sister newspaper the Norwich Evening News this week, in conjunction with the club and its main sponsor, Aviva.

As part of the campaign yellow and green clappers returned to help raise the volume, just as they had successfully done when the club was in trouble at the end of last season. And, boy, did they work. As I walked away from Carrow Road I heard almost everyone talking about the difference the 'clappers' had made, helping to create a fabulous atmosphere.

Combined with a brave, whole-hearted and adventurous approach to the crunch clash from Hughton – and brilliant performances from the likes of Wes Hoolahan, Jonny Howson and Johan Elmander, just to name a few – it truly became a day to remember.

Make no mistake, all the staff here at Archant Norfolk are rooting for the Canaries when match days arrive.

There are times when we have to ask the tough questions of those at Carrow Road – but that is because we want to see our readers head back into work on Monday mornings with a smile on their face.

That is exactly what happens when City win and you will do well not to hear someone say 'did you see Tettey's goal?' before you tuck into your lunch today.

Plenty of questions still need to be answered.

Can Hughton get his team to continue this form and finish the season with his future secure?

Will big-money signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel finally get the goals he so desperately wants and needs?

Can City's brilliant home form give them the confidence to improve away from Carrow Road?

We will find out in due course but for now, just for one more day, let's bask in the glory of a day which couldn't have gone much better for the Canaries – and one of the best goals ever scored by a Norwich City player.

• Pundits have their say on THAT goal

Our City writer Paddy Davitt – Press box neutrality was kept in check. Just. But sat side on to the unfolding brilliance in the City Stand when Alex Tettey took aim it was the full panoramic experience of Vito Mannone's desparing dive and then the ball slamming into the net which surely elevated the strike into the top echelon of goals seen at Carrow Road in any era. For me, though, the celebrations that erupted around Chris Hughton were just as memorable and encapsulated a special piece of footballing theatre.

Our City writer Michael Bailey – As Tettey's goal made the net bulge, I realised I was standing up. In the press box. That's not the done thing; I can't remember the last time I did it. And I must have already been on my way up as Alex made contact with the ball. Be it covering or supporting City, it's the best goal I've seen them score in person – that's 25 years-plus. What a privilege. Justin Fashanu's is probably still better; Bruce's goal is bigger. But Tettey's goal tops Safri's against Newcastle and will sit proudly among the Canaries' greatest of all time.

Columinist and Norwich and Peterborough Stand season ticket holder Ian Clarke - I felt a mix of disbelief, joy and a realisation we had seen a bit of history being made. It is hard to judge where it stands in the all time best Carrow Road goals - but Tettey's volley can certainly join the great ones alongside Hucks, Fash, Needergard, Safri and Rosario.

Columnist David Powles sits in the Lower Barclay - The look on the faces of the supporters around me was priceless. After having so little to cheer for most of the season nobody could quite believe it. The fact someone behind me said 'I just assumed it was going into the stand,' says it all. A fantastic moment.

Kim Briscoe has a season ticket in the Lower Barclay - I didn't think it was going in. Nobody thought it was going in. When it hit the back of the net it sparked an incredulous celebration among Norwich fans unused to seeing such fantastic goals.

Pinkun.com editor and Lower Barclay season ticket holder Pete Raven - I was able to follow the flight of Tettey's wonder strike perfectly. A split second of silence from a disbelieving home support as the ball hit the back of the net was broken by all manner of wild clap banner-assisted celebrations. To those stood with me at the opposite end of the pitch it looked a lot further out than it was but that doesn't take anything away from a goal that - in terms of long-range screamers at Carrow Road - is up there with Youssef Safri's against Newcastle in 2005 and Steen Nedergaard's against Coventry in 2003.
