Paul Lambert will use the latest international break to reflect on an encouraging start to life with the big boys.

Norwich City will aim to carry on the good work when Swansea head to Carrow Road on October 15 after serving further notice at Old Trafford they have every intention of flourishing this season during their top flight return.

Lambert's side have already picked up wins away from home and at Carrow Road during the early weeks.

Battling defeats at Chelsea and now Man United demonstrated they can also compete with the best.

'It's a relentless league,' he said. 'The game on Monday night was a hard game for us as well.

'A lot of hard work there and to go again Saturday against one of the best teams going – it has been a big, big week for us, but the performances I can't ask for any more. I think we have started the season really well for a team that has just come up. The performances are the main thing for me and they have been enough to pick up points. With every game that we have played we seem to be getting better.'

Lambert pinpointed City's noisy travelling support at Old Trafford as a useful barometer of his men's success so far this campaign.

The Canaries received full backing again for the duration of Saturday's contest from another sell out away allocation.

Lambert hailed the atmosphere during last Monday's 2-1 Carrow Road win against Sunderland as one of the best during his tenure at the club – and the Scot felt the full force of that support at the home of the champions.

'To come and play the way we did here, I think you always tell by the fans' reaction. How they react to you,' he said.

'They were different class the Norwich crowd. I thought they were excellent and they could see the effort the lads put in.

'I can't ask for any more – especially in that heat. It was blistering but they could see what we have done in coming here to a fabulous arena to play football.'
