Harrison Reed has vehemently refuted any claims that Norwich City players lack motivation for the rest of the campaign.

The Canaries head to Queens Park Rangers on Easter Monday in a mid-table position, with the play-offs a distant and fast disappearing dream.

But Reed insists there is plenty to fight for.

'We're fighting for three points, fighting for the team, fighting for my future, wherever it may be so I don't think it is anything to do with motivation,' said the midfielder, on loan from Premier League Southampton.

'I don't think any of the boys are less motivated now – we are a team, we want to do the best for the fans, for ourselves and for the club. I don't think motivation can be questioned.'

Reed scored a cracking 20-yarder when City beat QPR 2-0 back in August and is eager to repeat that at Loftus Road.

'I have fond memories of playing against QPR here and hopefully I can go and do the same again.

'I know I have it in my locker.'

Don't miss Paddy Davitt's match analysisReed could only watch and grudgingly admire as Fulham scored their two goals from midfield on Good Friday, with Tom Cairney pushing the theory that goals from midfield were something of a dying art – his was his fourth at Carrow Road in four appearances.

The City man agrees: 'Definitely - and it is something I look at as a midfielder.

'It is certainly something I have looked at, to pitch in with the goals and the assists.

'You look at the strikers and wingers for goals, but the teams that go up and the successful teams get goals from all over the pitch – from midfielders and centre halves and that is something the team has looked at.

'We haven't scored enough goals this season which is why we are where we are, but I think looking forward to the end of the season and next season that is something we will work on.'

The next season is, of course, more relevant to Reed than some others, but much may depend on the fate of his parent club Southampton and whether or not they can retain their status in the Premier League.
