Norwich City's final FA Premier Academy League home game of the season saw Reading take all three points with two late goals.

It was a disappointing end to a home campaign that has produced some memorable performances.

Ricky Martin's side travel to Guernsey next weekend to compete in the Clydesdale Bank International Tournament before their final two league games of the season away to Southampton and Watford.

Reading were quickly into their stride with the first real chance coming when Dominick Samuel raced clear of the Norwich defence but Jed Steer made a superb save to turn the ball behind for a corner.

Ryan Oakley was the Canaries' main threat and it needed a save from Dean Santangelo to deny the City winger after he beat two defenders before getting his shot in.

Samuel was a real handful as once again he raced clear of the City defence before rounding Steer, but with the chance of the simplest of tap-ins he blasted the ball on to the crossbar – the miss of the season at Colney.

Oakley again got in behind the Royals' defence and Jack Werndly was only inches away from making contact as Oakley sent in a low cross.

Jamar Loza saw a shot deflected wide, while just before the break Samuel made it a hat-trick of misses when, from a good position, he failed to hit the target.

Shortly into the second half, Werndly saw a shot deflected wide, while centre-back Taylor McKenzie's header went over the bar.

Not for the first time in the game, Oakley posed a threat with a delightful cross that Werndly got his head to, but he couldn't quite get enough on it.

Steer came to City's rescue, saving at the feet of Samuel, who must now have been wondering if it was to be his day.

That all changed, however, on 86 minutes when Samuel was completely unmarked at the far post to volley the ball home.

Deep in stoppage time, Reading made sure of the points when substitute Daniel Carr raced into the area to drive a low shot beyond Steer.
