Norwich City Under-21s suffered their sixth defeat on the trot yesterday – and it was a heavy one as Middlesbrough came away from Colney with an emphatic 5-0 success.

Bradley Fewster led the way with a hat-trick for the visitors as they took full advantage of a poor Norwich display.

Coach Dmitri Halajko was pulling no punches afterwards, telling the club's official website: 'We're really disappointed in ourselves and in our performance, but Middlesbrough took advantage of that.

'There were spells where we were competitive, but in the second half we've just fallen away, and it's not good enough from us and we need to get better.

'The good thing about football is that there are always more fixtures around the corner and there's no better opportunity than facing Manchester United at Carrow Road on Monday.'

Boro went ahead through Fewster on the stroke of half-time and ran away with it after the break, with Fewster adding two more and Junior Mondai and Joao Morelli completing the scoring. For City Glenn Middleton saw a second half effort come back off the bar.
