Norwich City are close to signing Chelsea youngster Jake Clarke-Salter on loan according to reports.

The Mirror report that the 19-year-old defender has been told he can leave Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis to get first team football, just a week after signing a four-year deal with the Premier League champions.

The Canaries were earlier linked with Arsenal defender Krystian Bielik this summer but the young Pole has been heavily involved with the Gunners on their tour of Asia.

It now seems Norwich's attentions have switched to Clarke-Salter, who was part of the England Under-20 side that won the World Cup earlier this summer.

City have already brought in eight new signings this summer including two defenders in the form of Christoph Zimmermann and Marcel Franke. However, an injury to Timm Klose, which will see him miss the start of the season, has led to them to looking for further reinforcements at the heart of their back four.
