There have been signs of life from the transfer window rumour mill this week – with Manchester City starlet Patrick Roberts the latest name linked with Norwich City.

Club Brugge's Dutch centre-back Stefano Denswil and Tottenham forward Alex Pritchard have been reported targets for Canaries manager Alex Neil this week, as he looks to prepare City for a second Championship promotion push in three seasons.

And 19-year-old forward Roberts has now joined that wish list according the Glasgow Evening Times, with the two sides relegated from the Premier League alongside them also said to be in the hunt to sign the former Fulham winger – Newcastle and Aston Villa.

Roberts joined the eventual Scottish champions Celtic in February on an 18-month loan deal, having failed to make an impact at Manchester City following a surprise £12million summer move from the Cottagers.

The forward is expected back at Celtic for pre-season but the suggestion is that loan deal could be broken if City favour another option this summer.

Roberts hit six goals in 11 league games north of the border – including a crucial brace in the Bhoys' 3-2 victory over title rivals Aberdeen last month.

Meanwhile, the Mirror believes Stoke have already won the race to sign Nathan Redmond this summer.

The 22-year-old winger helped England Under-21s to their first Toulon Tournament success in 22 years last week, but seems the prime candidate to leave Carrow Road following the Canaries' Premier League relegation.

Redmond is entering the final year of his current City contract and according to the tabloid, Redmond has officially rejected the offer of a new deal that had reportedly been on the table since the turn of the year.

Numerous other top-flight clubs have been linked with Redmond and if City do agree to a sale, they should be able to command a hefty fee – despite the relatively short time left on Redmond's current contract.

Redmond's former club Birmingham will take 15pc of any profit Norwich make on their initial £3.2m outlay.
