38 Denis Morgan
250 appearances/3 goals
All of Richard Denis Morgan's senior appearances came in the colours of Norwich City.
Born in Wales, Morgan's career began with Britton Ferry before he moved to Cardiff City prior to World War II – although he never played a game for them.
Morgan moved to Carrow Road in October, 1946 and spent nine years in Norfolk. He was known as a pacey full back with a propensity to take a risk or two – confident in the knowledge his turn of foot would help him out of a tricky situation.
He left Norfolk for Merthyr, where he was also manager, and then headed to Margate. However, he was unable to break into the team and spent most of his time playing for the reserves before he was released in 1959.
That was effectively the end of his football career, but he suffered a tragic end to his life. Morgan died after he developed gangrene in his right leg.
