Norwich City's on-loan striker Harry Kane knows exactly what it will take to edge past Doncaster in tonight's Capital One Cup third round tie at Carrow Road.

The 19-year-old Tottenham starlet scored at Rovers in a 3-0 Championship win last season during his successful loan spell at Millwall.

Kane is likely to get the chance to try and inflict more misery on Dean Saunders' League One battlers this evening, and in the process press his own Premier League claims after making his debut in the recent goalless West Ham home draw.

'They're a good side. We were both fighting in a relegation battle last season so there was a lot riding on that game,' he said. 'They're a tough team, and hopefully if we play how we know we can then we should get the result. We want to go all the way in the competition – all the players want to win and this is a great chance to get though to the next round and we'll go from there. I will be trying to impress and the most important thing is to try to get the win. We're not taking it lightly. but we know we're going to be favourites for it and we want to go out and do the job and go through to the next round.

'This is a great way to kick start the winning habit and if we get a win then we can hopefully push on and take that into the Premier League.'

Chris Hughton has labelled Kane a 'natural finisher' and the England youth international certainly possesses the inner self-belief not to be adversely affected by wasting a late chance against the Hammers on his Norwich debut.

'That's football. Everyone misses chances. I think the quicker you put it out of your mind the better,' he said. 'That's life and the quicker you can move on and take the next opportunity the better. You've just got to get on with it to be honest. I've just got to keep doing what I'm doing and get in those positions and then take the next one. I've proved that I can score goals in the two loan spells I've been on, so that's what I want to do – I want to score goals in the Premier League. That's the next step, so hopefully if I can progress I can do that and go on from there.'

Kane revealed yesterday he had been warmly welcomed into the Norwich fold following his deadline night loan exit from White Hart Lane.

'They're a great bunch of lads, a very tight group, everyone gets on with everyone so I've enjoyed my time here so far,' he said. 'It was all last minute. I was third choice there and they were signing (Clint) Dempsey, so when I knew that was happening the manager said it would be good for me to get some games out on loan and that's when the deal got done.

'Of course I want to be playing week in, week out in the Premier League. This is a great opportunity for me.

'This is the next step and it's all experience, so now I want to score goals in the Premier League and then go on from there.'
