Morris made his debut in Oxford's 1-0 League Two home defeat to Burton at the weekend and the 18-year-old then scored his first professional goal in a 2-1 win at Bristol City in the first round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

'Really for me it's about coming here and getting goals and games and trying to make sure the club do well,' he said.

'I don't know much about League Two football if I am honest. I have played against teams at this level so I know it will be a tough test.

'All I want to do really is get to know the lads, get in the side and look to impress and score goals. It was the right time for me to step up. I had played one first team game at Norwich and I am looking to get more games under my belt.'

Morris burst onto the scene during City's FA Youth Cup win, under Neil Adams' guidance, and that fairytale run will always be a special memory.

'The coaching staff there must take a huge amount of credit for that,' he told Oxford's official website.

'I scored a hat-trick in the quarter-final against Everton at Goodison Park and that was a night to remember. This is a new chapter for me.

'I've been at Norwich since I was 10 years old. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully it's a new experience. It's all about progressing and looking towards the future now.'

City boss Adams said of the loan move: 'There are players ahead of him so we felt we could let him go and get some experience. That is invaluable when you send young players to League One or League Two clubs.

'I know Carlton inside out and he is ready now for men's football and probably has been for the last six months. He'll gain more from playing competitive men's football on a weekly basis.'
