Norwich City midfielder Wes Hoolahan has been named in the Republic of Ireland's provisional squad for upcoming 2016 European Championship qualifiers against Gibraltar and Germany.
Irish boss Martin O'Neill has retained Hoolahan in his plans after unveiling his provisional squad listing on Tuesday morning for the Dublin game against minnows Gibraltar on October 11 before a testing trip to World Cup holders Germany on October 14.
Hoolahan was an unused substitute for the Republic of Ireland's opening Euro2016 2-1 win in Georgia after playing 60 minutes in a friendly against Oman earlier this month. Former Norwich team mate Anthony Pilkington is also selected, with the Irish squad scheduled to be trimmed ahead of meeting up on October 7.
Norwich's 32-year-old playmaker will not be involved in City's Capital One Cup third round tie at Shrewsbury later on Tuesday evening with Neil Adams opting to rest the Dubliner after his withdrawal at half-time in the 2-2 Championship draw against Birmingham on Saturday.
