Norwich City defender Seb Bassong will aim to emulate his club mates Youssouf Mulumbu and Dieumerci Mbokani by reaching the group stages of World Cup qualifying today with Cameroon.
The 'Indomitable Lions' host Niger in Yaounde after a 3-0 first leg win last week. Bassong was an unused substitute in the first leg after being drafted back into his country's international set-up following his key role in the Canaries' Championship promotion success last season.
Mulumbu and Mbokani were part of the DR Congo side that earned their place in the group phase of qualifying for Russia 2018 with a 5-4 aggregate win over Burundi at the weekend.
Dynamo Kiev loan signing Mbokani was credited with an own goal in the second leg, but Fiston Abdul Razak's 89th minute penalty earned his country a 2-2 second leg draw. Mulumbu was an unused substitute.
