Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy has been named in Roy Hodgson's 23-man England squad for this summer's European Championships.

England manager Hodgson announced his squad for the finals in Poland and the Ukraine at 1pm today but Ruddy's Norwich City team-mate Grant Holt was not selected, despite being England's second highest goalscorer in the Premier League behind Wayne Rooney.

Following Norwich City's 2-0 home win over Aston Villa, Ruddy said: 'English goalkeepers are pretty thin on the ground at the moment but I think we've got some fantastic options, even with the people who haven't made themselves available.

'Obviously Joe Hart has got it for as long as he wants it, because he's been in exceptional form for the last few years and he's just won the league.'
